92% of the won job value Aussie Electrical gets from Google Ads started with a phone call. Web forms are growing, but the calls carry the work, and smoke alarm and no-power enquiries are the most likely to become a won job.

    The business

Aussie Electrical is the electrical business of the Aussie Home Services group, with licensed electricians across Sydney, the Central Coast and the Blue Mountains. It is an accredited Level 2 Service Provider, and its work runs from no-power call-outs, fault finding and smoke alarms to switchboard upgrades, Level 2 mains work and air conditioning.

Much of that work is urgent. People with no power, a safety switch that keeps tripping or a smoke alarm that needs replacing tend to pick up the phone straight away. Planned work, such as a switchboard upgrade or a new air con system, is weighed up before it is booked.

What we set out to do

An enquiry count says nothing about the work won. The aim was to know which calls and forms turned into jobs, how big those jobs were and how quickly they closed, so the campaigns and the website could be shaped around the enquiries that become work.

    What we built

The electrical and air con campaigns each have their own tracked phone number, and web forms record the ad they came from. Calls and forms are then matched to the client's job records, where each job carries its agreed price once it is won. The search campaigns are split by service and by place, with dedicated streams for switchboards, Level 2 work, no-power enquiries and air conditioning, and local groups for areas such as Umina Beach, Blacktown, Campbelltown, Terrigal, Gosford and Katoomba.

Each ad lands on a page about the exact job, with the phone number and a short booking form near the top and a Book and Call bar pinned to every mobile page. The pages themselves are shown in the Aussie Electrical website case study.

    What happened

Since ads began, 92% of won job value from Google Ads started with a phone call, and the average job won from a call was worth 1.3× the average job won from a web form. Better than 1 in 5 Google Ads enquiries became a won job (22%). Half of all jobs were won within 2 days of the first enquiry, and 9 in 10 within two weeks.

    What informed the next steps

The big jobs come in by phone. The biggest 10% of jobs brought in 44% of all won job value, and 94% of those started with a call. The first conversation is the moment to get right.

Smoke alarm, no-power and local enquiries close more often. 40% of smoke alarm enquiries became won jobs, 1.7× the account average. No-power and fault-finding enquiries were won 35% of the time, about half of them on the day the customer called. Enquiries from emergency or power-outage searches were won about twice as often as searches for a service alone, and searches naming a suburb or region 1.4× as often.

The phone does not stop at 6pm. 21% of won job value came from enquiries made on weekends or weekday evenings.

For an electrician, that points to three things: keep the phone number first on every ad and page, be ready to book urgent work the same day, and keep the ads running after hours. See our Google Ads management and tracking and analytics work.

    How we measured

Figures use traced Google Ads enquiries and jobs marked won in the client’s records. Won value is the agreed price before costs. Search-theme comparisons cover enquiries with a recorded search or keyword, about a third of won value; service comparisons exclude unclassified jobs.

Web forms grew fastest, leading a 37% rise in Google Ads enquiries in the last 30 days on the 30 days before. Since ads began, though, 92% of won job value started with a call, and the average phone job was worth 1.3× the average form job. For an electrician, the phone is where most won work starts.

34% of enquiries from emergency or power-outage searches became won jobs, about twice the rate of service-only searches, and they were usually won the same day. People whose search named their suburb or region were won 1.4× as often as service-only searches, with the widest gap on electrical work.

    What the results measure.

The definitions behind the campaign results, from enquiries and conversion rates to advertising spend.

    Conversion
An action recorded under the account’s conversion setup, such as a tracked call, form submission, booking or purchase. Platform call/form enquiries are described separately in the study; repeat calls can be separate events, so enquiries are not necessarily unique people.
Cost per job · cost per lead
Advertising spend divided by the relevant recorded enquiry or job count. The study identifies the denominator. Enquiry cost is considered alongside lead quality and job value.
    Conversion rate
Recorded conversion actions divided by ad interactions, usually clicks. The study identifies which actions count toward its rate.
    Ad spend
Money spent on the advertising platform. The enquiry costs and revenue-to-ad-spend figures here exclude agency fees and the cost of delivering the client’s service.
    The measurement window
The period covered by the result, with spend and outcomes drawn from the same reporting window.
    A starting point
Starting values appear beside the resulting figure when the account history is available.
    Qualified lead
An enquiry assessed against the agreed service, service area and customer requirements.
    An anonymised client
A project published without the client’s name. The page identifies its sector and explains the scope of the work.

Put your own numbers to work: what the calls nobody answered cost, with your own click price and close rate. It takes about a minute and asks for nothing.

    How we run accounts

    How we manage the campaign.

We define the outcomes to track, test the enquiry paths and use what we learn to guide campaign improvements. SoudCoh Compound explains how that work is organised.

    • Rule 01

      Count real enquiries only

The number it moves: True cost per lead

We agree which calls, forms, bookings or sales count as a result, and a real test enquiry goes through every tracking path before the campaign goes live.

    • Rule 08

      Build on practical campaign experience

The number it moves: Waste blocked before the first click

Every change on an account like this one is written to that client's change history, and what it teaches, never the client's numbers, goes into the next account's starting point.

If you want one of these

What actually happens after the first call.

Start with your goals and current setup. We review the opportunity, agree the work and plan the next stage with you.

    1. The call

      Thirty to forty-five minutes, free

We discuss your services, customers, website and goals, then identify the most useful next step.

    2. Week 0

      The audit

We review your website and advertising, then set out the opportunities, priorities and recommended scope.

    3. Week 1

      The build

Everything the account needs before it can spend a dollar: what it will bid on, what it must never pay for, the ad copy, the assets, the landing pages and the tracking. It waits in our approval queue, and a real test enquiry goes through every tracking path before anything is live.

    4. Day one

      You press go

Campaigns are created paused, every time, so you can read the whole build first. You activate when you are ready, not when we are.

    5. Days 1–14

      The clean

We review search terms, exclude irrelevant searches and refine keywords and ads using the early campaign data.

    6. From there

      Rhythm

Regular optimisation and reporting, with reviews of lead quality, customer value and where to focus the next stage of work.

    FAQ

    The questions this raises.

How the results were measured and how the approach could apply to electricians.

The first call is free and there is no deck.

    Book a call
How do you know 92% of won value started with a phone call?

Calls on the campaigns' tracked phone numbers and web forms are both traced to the ad they came from, then matched to the client's job records. We split the value of every won job by whether its enquiry was a call or a form.

Do web forms still matter for an electrician?

Yes. Forms led a 37% rise in Google Ads enquiries in the last 30 days on the 30 days before, and they catch people who cannot call. But phone jobs averaged 1.3× the value of form jobs, so the phone number stays prominent on every page.

What counts as a won job?

A job the client marked as won in its job records, valued at the agreed job price. It is not profit, and enquiries that were quoted but not won are not counted.

Which enquiries were most likely to become won work?

Smoke alarm enquiries were won 40% of the time and no-power or fault-finding enquiries 35%, against 22% for all Google Ads enquiries. Enquiries from emergency or power-outage searches were won about twice as often as searches for a service alone.

What do the results in this Aussie Electrical case study measure?

Campaign results describe the enquiries or job outcomes reported for the client. Each figure identifies what it measures.

    Which records support these results?

Result basis: Since ads began. The labels distinguish advertising conversions, call/form enquiries and won-job revenue. Enquiry events can include repeat calls; booked jobs are reported separately.

Would this work for electricians like mine?

We assess your service area, competition, margins and customer value, then build a plan around the opportunities in your business. The first call establishes the priorities, budget and tracking for that work.

How would you plan this for my business?

We start with your goals, service area, competition and customer value. From there, we recommend the channels, website improvements and tracking that fit your next stage of growth.

    Ready to plan your campaign?

Thirty minutes on your numbers, and a written list of what we would change first. Yours to keep either way.

A real conversation and a written list of opportunities.
