1. Start from what customers already say

   The strongest openings are almost never invented. They are the sentence a customer used in an enquiry, the objection that comes up in every quote conversation, or the thing people are surprised you can do. Those exist in your inbox and on your phone already.

   • The words buyers use, taken from real enquiries and calls
   • The objection that has to be answered before anybody books
   • The misconception that costs you work every single week

2. Write the opening before the script

   Each piece is built backwards from its first line, because that line does all the selecting. A single idea can carry five completely different openings, and it is far cheaper to write five and film them in one session than to discover after the fact that the idea was fine and the opening was not.

   • Several openings written for one idea, not one for each
   • Nothing that leads with a logo or a greeting
   • A claim we can actually stand behind, written down before the shoot

3. Decide who is genuinely allowed to speak

   There are only three honest voices in this kind of advertising: a person who does the work, a customer who really used it, and someone plainly identified as a paid partner. We choose between them before the shoot rather than fixing it in the caption afterwards.

   • Staff speaking as staff, which reads as expertise
   • Customers speaking only about work they actually had done
   • Paid partners disclosed as paid partners, without exception

4. Get the rights agreed in writing first

   Before anybody is filmed: what the material can be used for, on which platforms, for how long, whether it can be edited and re-cut, and whether it can run as a paid advertisement rather than only as a post. This is the step that gets skipped and it is the one that ends careers of good assets.

   • Paid usage named explicitly, not assumed from a posting agreement
   • A term long enough that a proven asset outlives its licence
   • The right to edit, subtitle and re-cut without going back for permission

5. Shoot in batches, on real work

   One session on a live job produces material for weeks: several openings for the same idea, two or three separate ideas, and the incidental footage that turns out to be the best thing captured. Filming for one piece at a time is how a production plan becomes unaffordable.

   • A shot list agreed before anybody drives anywhere
   • Sound captured properly, because bad audio kills a piece faster than bad vision
   • Permission from the property owner before a site appears

6. Cut for sound-off, then add the sound

   A large share of the audience will never hear it, so every piece has to work silently first: captions on everything, the point legible without audio, and the visual carrying the story. The audio is then built to reward the people who did turn it on.

   • Captions on every piece, placed clear of the interface
   • The claim readable in the frame, not only spoken
   • Music and voice mixed so speech survives a phone speaker

7. Version it for where it will actually appear

   Exported at the right ratio for each destination with the safe areas respected, rather than uploaded once and cropped by a machine. It is a small amount of work at the edit and it is the difference between a piece that looks made for the platform and one that looks recycled.

   • Correct ratios exported from the source, never re-downloaded
   • Subject and captions kept clear of the interface on every version
   • A short and a long cut, because the same idea reads differently at each length

8. Label everything so the account can learn

   Each piece is catalogued by its opening type, format, speaker and length. Without that, a year of production teaches nobody anything, and the following year's brief is written on taste. With it, the brief writes itself.

   • One naming standard across every asset, applied at export
   • Pieces that differ in one thing, so the comparison means something
   • A short written read on what the batch showed, after each round

9. Keep a rotation, not a backlog

   Creative decays. The plan assumes it, so the next batch is in production before the current one fades, and the schedule is set at a rate the business can actually sustain rather than at the rate a launch month suggests.

   • The next batch briefed while the current one is still running
   • A reserve held back for the week a shoot falls through
   • A cadence agreed against your calendar, not against ours

10. Hand over the files, not just the exports

    The raw footage, the project files, the captions and the written rights all end up with you. If you replace us, you are replacing our attention rather than your access to a library you paid to create.

    • A written catalogue so the next team knows what exists

   Read the enquiries, write the openings

   The raw material for a batch comes out of your own enquiries, quotes and calls. By the end of the week there is a written list of ideas and several openings for each, approved before anybody books a camera.

2. Week one

   Settle the rights and the consents

   Who appears, what the footage may be used for, on which platforms and for how long — agreed in writing before the shoot rather than negotiated after the piece has proven itself.

3. Week two

   One session, many pieces

   Filmed on real work with the shot list agreed. The aim of a session is a batch, not a film, and the incidental footage captured while waiting is frequently the best thing that comes out of the day.

4. Weeks two to three

   Cut, caption, version

   Each idea cut with its alternative openings, captioned for sound-off, exported at the right ratio for each destination, and checked by a second person on a real phone before it goes anywhere.

5. First round

   Read what the batch showed

   A short written note on which openings, formats and speakers held attention, and which did not. Early numbers are small and are presented as direction rather than as proof.

6. Ongoing

   The next batch, before this one fades

   Production runs as a rotation at a rate the business can sustain. Where the honest read is that video is not earning its place in your category, we will say so rather than book another shoot.

Expect most of a first batch to be ordinary and one or two pieces to be better than anything you have run. That ratio is the point of shooting a batch, and it is why a round is judged on the best pieces it produced rather than on an average across all of them.
